Geographic Information Systems
The GIS department of the Prairie Management Program has worked to develop a graphic data base of all land
data resources such as prairie dog towns for monitoring growth expansions.
We also have planned for the future implementation of 911, by GPSing and mapping all home sites, and roads.
Community Locations
We are also gathering data of all utilities within the reservation that include phone lines, electrical lines, as well
as city and county water lines. We have contracted work projects with the Bureau of Indian
Affairs and hope to acquire other projects in the future.
We also assisted with the West Nile Mosquito Project by mapping trap locations as well as locations of control burns to decrease possible mosquito
habitat and also larviciding locations.
Eagle Butte trap site locations
location of control burn site
Delbert Longbrake mosquito larvae testing
We work closely with other Tribal and Bureau of Indian Affairs Departments in developing map data requests for their work projects.
